The Lightjet printer is a "digital enlarger" that uses laser light to expose digital files on to an extra sensitive version of traditional silver halide photographic material. It's a hybrid between newer digital and older traditional photographic imaging. The prints are imaged on to Fuji's Crystal Archive media that is specially designed for digital printers like the Lightjet. The media is a very fast paper that responds well to the small amount of laser light given off by the digital laser system. The Fuji Crystal archive prints are offered in Pearl and Gloss paper surfaces, as well as Fuji-Flex, (a high gloss polyester base with a mirror finish). After the Lightjet exposes the image to paper, it is then taken out of the lightjet and processed in a traditional RA-4 processor. The Fuji Crystal Archive media has a life expectency of 40-60 years.
